The City of Perth Surf Life Saving Club is located at City Beach in Perth, Western Australia.
The club was formed in 1924 by members of the City of Perth Amateur Swimming Club, to provide a volunteer water safety and surf rescue service. It has now grown to become one of Australia’s largest and most successful surf life saving clubs.
The club patrols a 2 kilometre stretch of beach, from the Swanbourne rifle range to the Floreat groyne.
Members patrol the beach between the hours of 9am and 5pm on weekends and public holidays from October 1 to March 31 each year.
LIFESAVING AWARDS
All active members are required to gain either the Surf Rescue Certificate (13 to 15 year olds) or the Bronze Medallion (15 years and up) before they are eligible to do beach patrols or compete in any interclub competition.
Once these awards are gained, other specialist awards are available such as the Advanced Resuscitation Certificate and Inflatable Rescue Boat Driver’s Certificate. Awards in Instruction and Examination are also available.
COMPETITION
Club swimming and running events are held on Sunday mornings for all club members. These events help members maintain fitness, as well as promoting a healthy club spirit.
Active members may compete in interclub competition, in swimming, board and ski paddling, running and surf boat rowing events. There are also lifesaving events such as First Aid, Champion Lifesaver and Champion Patrol competitions.
Each year the club is well represented at the Australian Championships.
For those who just want to have a go and try something new, beginner sessions and more casual squads are available, while the City Beach Pounders are all about participation and “old dogs learning new tricks”.
JUNIOR ACTIVITIES
The 7 to 13 year age group, known as the Nippers, meet on Sunday mornings from 9:00 to 11:00. Nippers are educated in surf safety, basic resuscitation and first aid, with the emphasis on participation and enjoyment.
Interclub competition is held for 10-13 year olds, in swimming, running, board paddling and team events.
SOCIAL
The club has social facilities, including licenced bar facilities available Friday nights and on other occasions throughout the season.

The Sydney Cricket Ground is a sports stadium and is considered as one of the most popular cricket venues situated in Sydney in the world. This ground was established in the year 1848 and has a seating capacity of over 46,000 people. However, with such limited seating capacity, the spectators have the advantage of being close to the action from any point in the ground.
The stadium is exclusively used for Test Cricket, for One Day International cricket and also for rugby union and league matches for both men and women players. This ground is the home ground for the Sydney Swans of the Australian Football League and also for the New South Wales Blues cricket team.
The stadium is owned and even operated by the SCG (Sydney Cricket Ground) Trust which manages the Football stadium situated next to this stadium. The Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust is an organization which operates many sports facilities in Sydney. This trust operates the Sydney Cricket Ground and Football Stadium at Moore Park in east Sydney. Mid 2008 saw the opening of the head office, the Sheridan Building.
Situated in Moore Park in Sydney, the stadium is 156.0 meters long and 154.0 meter wide. Its home team is New South Wales. The curator of the stadium is Tom Parker. This ground has five main stands which includes two historic stands, the members and the ladies stands.
The first test match played here was in 1882, played between England Australia team. The first ODI played here was in 1979, between the Australian team and the England team. In 2007, the first Twenty20 was played in between England and Australia.
The last test match was between Australia and South Africa in 2009. With right to ODI, the last match was in 2009 between the New Zealand team and the Australian team. Further, the last Twenty20 was played between both these teams in 2009.
Cricket has been played here at the stadium from 1848, when the ground was named as the Garrison Ground. Earlier, the pitches were good for batting purpose with lots of immense scores till date. the highest one of these as far as cricketers are concerned, was done in 1929-30 season, by Sir Donald Bradman. He celebrated his personal best score of 452 for New South Wales in the match against Queensland. From early 1970s, the square has undergone many revisions and changes. The ground has witnessed many historical moments of various cricket teams and their players.
During the World War I, the ground was used for many sports like tennis, athletics, cycling, football and baseball. However, in 1920 the cycling track was removed. Further redevelopment of the ground began in the year 1978 when the World Series of Cricket began. In 1978, five light towers costing 1.2 million dollars were built, so that cricket could be played at night hours too. The old concrete scoreboard which was built originally in 1896 got closed in 1983. In this place, a new electronic board was erected above the Hill. This board allowed the spectators to watch video replays and also advertising.
The Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust [SCGT] has approached the state government for consent to allow future development on Trust Lands, said Rodney Cavalier, Chairman of the Trust.

Friday May 26, 2006
The Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust [SCGT] has approached the state government for consent to allow future development on Trust Lands, said Rodney Cavalier, Chairman of the Trust.
“The Trust proposes to build a grandstand on the old Hill which will replace the Doug Walters Stand and fill the void between the Churchill and O’Reilly Stands,” said Mr Cavalier. “Its roof will be the same height as the present stand roofs and the proposed new grandstand will improve spectator facilities.” (see plan attached below).
“Certain seating areas at the SCG are approaching their ‘use-by-date’ and the Trust is seeking to undertake these improvements without any tax payers money.”
Over the last 20 years the Trust has expended $160 million of its own funds on capital works including construction of the Sydney Football Stadium and redevelopment of major areas of the SCG.
All the stands and other facilities were built by funds subscribed by SCG members and the public.
The Trust has driven down its level of debt from $62 million in 1988 to $6.9 million today. The Trust would be debt free within three years but for the proposed new grandstand.
“It is prudent to manage our capital strength by building new facilities for the public,” said Mr Cavalier.
The Trust lands are presently home to the Trust administration, NSW Rugby, the Sydney Swans, the AFL Commission and Cricket NSW. NSW Rugby will soon commence construction of a $7 million facility for their administration, players and community Rugby. The Trust plans to call expressions of interest for sports medicine facilities later this year.
“Any surplus funds generated will allow the Trust to contemplate a staged redevelopment of the SCG grandstands and to develop new facilities on site for sporting associations as well as a variety of other uses without the need for taxpayer funds,” Mr Cavalier said.
“Any future proposed developments on Trust lands would be subject to consent from the lawful authority which is the NSW Minister for Planning and the NSW Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation,” he said.
Any proposed development to the Gold Members car park will incorporate an increased number of car parking spaces and improved infrastructure.
